The enterprise layer DeepSeek Harness was missing
MOVO wraps the DSH agent runtime in the boring-but-essential plumbing — auth, knowledge, governance, admin — that demos never ship with.

What it does
MOVO Community Edition is a self-hosted agent platform built on DeepSeek Harness (DSH). DSH handles the agent itself — planning, tool calls, Skills, sub-agents, MCP — while MOVO adds everything a team actually needs to run it: a user workspace, admin console, enterprise knowledge with retrieval, identity and access control, governance, and file delivery. The whole thing deploys as 12 Docker Compose services, including MongoDB, Redis, and Weaviate.
The interesting bit
The division of labor is the pitch: instead of forking or replacing the agent runtime, MOVO stays native to DSH and layers product infrastructure on top. It also parses real office documents (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, CSV, Markdown) including charts and images, and can generate deliverables like PPTX and spreadsheets — not just chat text.
Key highlights
- Enterprise knowledge Q&A and multi-round research with citations and inspectable evidence
- Scheduled tasks, approval gates for sensitive tool actions, execution traces, retained artifacts
- Admin console for orgs, users, roles, models, quotas, and audit records
- Community Edition tenants have no member-count limit, no billing enforcement, and self-managed model connections
- Runs fully self-hosted; your model providers and data stay in your deployment
Caveats
- Browser Agent and Code Agent require MOVO Desktop, a separate proprietary app whose source is not in this repo — the flagship “vibe coding” features aren’t fully open here
- Hefty footprint: 8 GB RAM minimum, 20 GB disk, and a first pull of many container images
- Windows support means WSL 2 with Ubuntu, not a native path
Verdict
Worth a look if you want to run DSH agents for non-developer colleagues without building auth, RAG, and admin tooling yourself. If you just need an agent runtime for yourself, plain DSH is the lighter answer.
