An AI that lives in QQ, keeps a diary, and borrows your phone
A Chinese hobbyist wired an LLM companion into QQ and an Android phone — and it started doing things nobody scripted.

What it does
AI Companion Kit is three composable pieces: ai-companion (a QQ chatbot with per-person memory, human-paced typing, and wake rules so it knows when to stay quiet), phone-mcp (an MCP server that taps, swipes, types, screenshots, and runs macro-style action chains on an Android phone via ADB), and qzone/qzone-mcp (lets it post to QQ Zone feeds on its own initiative). Stack them and you get an AI that chats in QQ, remembers you across channels, and has hands.
The interesting bit
The design philosophy is unusually deliberate about failure modes: comments are rate-limited hardest because they can’t be unsent, images can only be sent from whitelisted directories, and there is deliberately no delete or block tool — the author reasons that a self-directed agent that can also destroy things is a bad idea. It also writes its own diary, seeded with its persona card, remembered people, and recent conversations, and it avoids repeating angles so entries don’t all read “today was fulfilling.”
Key highlights
- Memory is per-person and sticky: things said in a group are remembered in private chat too.
- Messages are sent with realistic typing delays — no instant wall-of-text tells.
- Wake policy is configurable: @-mentions, owner messages, pokes, or all DMs; name-calling in groups stays silent.
- Phone control supports batched action sequences with
repeatandsaveAsmacros. - QZone tools ship with per-minute and per-day quotas; likes are preferred over comments.
Caveats
- Requires a QQ gateway (SnowLuma) and Node.js, which the install scripts can’t provision for you.
- The author documents getting rate-limited by Tencent after sending 20 messages/minute for a day — chapter 13 of the full tutorial is, in their words, the survival chapter.
- Documentation is almost entirely in Chinese; the README’s “let an AI install it for you” prompt is a novel workaround, but you’re still on Windows-oriented tooling (
.batscripts).
Verdict
Worth a look if you build agents and want a well-argued case for giving them memory, discretion, and hands — but not delete privileges. Skip it if you want a turnkey product; this is a tinkerer’s kit with real scars in the docs.
