What it does Waku is a native desktop app built in Rust that corrals a growing list of command-line coding agents—Claude Code, Codex, Cursor CLI, Grok Build, and others—into one interface. It detects which agent CLIs you have installed, talks to each through its native protocol, and keeps projects, sessions, and transcripts entirely on your machine.

The interesting bit Built with GPUI—the same Rust framework that powers Zed—it feels like a real native app rather than another browser shell. You can queue follow-up messages while an agent is still running, tweak reasoning effort mid-session, and rewind Git-backed tasks using conversation-aware checkpoints.

Key highlights

  • Supports Amp, Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor CLI, Grok Build, OpenCode, and Pi
  • Automatic CLI detection with no manual endpoint configuration
  • Queue and steer messages during active agent runs
  • Conversation-aware Git checkpoints for rewinding tasks
  • Fully local state; no Waku account or remote service required

Caveats

  • Currently tied to macOS; the README notes development requires macOS, Rust 1.96+, and Bun
  • You must install and authenticate each supported agent CLI yourself; Waku does not bundle them

Verdict Worth a look if you routinely switch between multiple coding agents and want a unified, offline-first command center. Skip it if you are on Linux or Windows, or if you only ever use a single agent.
