Your AI's unblockable web browser, with a freemium catch
An MCP server that hands LLMs live web access, anti-bot evasion, and 60+ data tools—if you pay past the first 5,000 requests.

What it does
Bright Data’s MCP server plugs into Claude, GPT, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible agent and lets it search the live web, scrape pages to markdown, automate browsers, and query structured datasets (Amazon, LinkedIn, Zillow, Yahoo Finance, etc.). The hosted version runs at a URL; the local version is one npx command. A free tier covers 5,000 requests/month for basic search and scraping.
The interesting bit
The “GEO” tool group is a neat meta-twist: your agent can ask ChatGPT, Grok, and Perplexity how they talk about a brand, turning the server into a monitoring layer for AI-generated reputation. The “Code” group feeds npm/PyPI metadata directly to coding agents without stale caches or manual scraping.
Key highlights
- Hosted or local:
https://mcp.brightdata.com/mcp?token=...ornpx @brightdata/mcp - 5,000 free requests/month on Rapid mode (search + basic scraping)
- 11 tool groups including ecommerce, social, browser automation, finance, travel, and code
- Pro mode unlocks 60+ tools including remote browser control and web data APIs
- Anti-bot/anti-CAPTCHA handling built in, backed by Bright Data’s proxy infrastructure
Caveats
- Pro mode costs extra; the README only says “pay-as-you-go” without listing prices
- Browser automation and most structured data APIs are paywalled behind Pro
- Demo videos are noted as “earlier versions” with no updated recordings
Verdict
Worth a spin if your agent needs reliable live web data and you can stay inside 5,000 calls/month. Skip it if you need heavy scraping or browser automation on a budget—those capabilities exist but the pricing opacity makes cost planning hard.
