One base_url, a dozen AI coding subscriptions, zero API keys
Agent2API turns the login sessions of a dozen AI desktop coding clients into a single local OpenAI-compatible gateway.

What it does
It’s a Rust reverse proxy that sits between your OpenAI-compatible client (Cline, Trae, anything that accepts a custom base_url) and a long list of AI coding desktop apps — WorkBuddy, Qoder, CatPaw, AutoClaw, Accio, CodeArts and more. You log into those services through the gateway’s panel, and it forwards your requests using your existing account quotas. No upstream API keys, no changes to the client. It ships as a Tauri desktop app or a Docker container, and runs fully on your own machine.
The interesting bit
The boring part is the value: it normalizes wildly different upstreams into one interface — /v1/chat/completions, /v1/responses, and even Anthropic-style /v1/messages with count_tokens — plus a global priority queue across all accounts, automatic 429 fallback, token auto-renewal where the provider supports it, and even daily check-in automation to farm free credits. There’s also a request dashboard with cache-hit-rate trends and a 365-day activity heatmap, which is more observability than most official APIs give you.
Key highlights
- 15+ providers supported, each with a documented capability matrix (renewal, balance, check-in, model listing)
- Multi-account management with per-model rate-limit cooldowns and balance-aware skipping
- Outbound proxy support and outbound fingerprint scrubbing
- Docker deployment with amd64/arm64 images, admin panel, and in-container self-update with sha256 verification
- Fail-closed by default: LAN access requires a registered admin and a gateway key
Caveats
- The project is explicit that this is unofficial client emulation — it may violate upstream terms of service, and account bans are your problem. No commercial use.
- Upstream interfaces are reverse-engineered from observed client traffic and can break at any time.
- Web-based logins that need a local desktop callback (AutoClaw, CatPaw, Accio, CodeArts, Trae) don’t work in Docker; you must paste credentials instead.
Verdict
If you’re already paying for (or farming free tiers of) several AI coding subscriptions and want them behind one endpoint, this is genuinely clever plumbing. If you need something ToS-safe for production, keep walking.
