Microsoft turns its own docs into skills your AI agent can actually use

What it does

This repo packages Azure expertise as Agent Skills — folders of markdown instructions, scripts, and resources following the open SKILL.md standard. Instead of your AI assistant hallucinating an Azure SDK call from 2022, it loads curated guidance distilled from Microsoft Learn: API patterns, configuration procedures, best practices, troubleshooting decision trees, and compliance constraints. Skills use progressive disclosure, so the agent only reads the name and description up front, then pulls the full instructions and resources when a task actually triggers them.

The interesting bit

The core insight is that documentation already contains the decisions and guardrails agents need — so rather than doing RAG over raw text every conversation, Microsoft pre-compiles that knowledge into actions and choices the agent can use directly. It’s docs-as-code, literally. The pipeline that produced them is visible too: the products/ directory holds scan results and classification reports explaining why each node became a skill (or didn’t).

• The README is heavy on quickstart energy and light on how fresh the extracted knowledge stays over time

Verdict

If you do Azure work with an AI coding assistant, this is a genuinely useful shortcut to current, official guidance. If Azure isn’t in your stack, skip it — but note the docs-to-skills pipeline as a technique worth stealing.
