Your agent shops for its own API keys now
Grandet is a price-comparison layer for LLM APIs that your agent can query and wire up itself — no sign-up, no key needed for lookups.
What it does
Grandet maintains listed prices for models across 1,800+ official APIs, inference providers, and relay sites, and exposes that data to your AI agent as a Skill or an anonymous MCP server. Ask “find me the cheapest Claude Sonnet 4.6 API” and it ranks options by listed price, flags conditions like minimum top-ups, and can even edit your app’s config to connect the winner. It also tracks free tiers, trial credits, and relay sign-up offers.
The interesting bit
The discipline around what it won’t tell you: it ranks by listed price only, never vouches for a site’s quality claims, keeps USD credit, CNY credit, and cash prices in separate buckets, and admits when it has no measurements for speed or downgraded models. For a domain as scam-adjacent as API relays, that restraint is the feature. The connect flow also keeps your API key out of the chat entirely — you paste it into a terminal command yourself.
Key highlights
- Remote MCP server at
grandet.ai/mcp— Streamable HTTP, no account, no key - Six tools including
grandet_find_cheapest_api,grandet_find_free_credits, andgrandet_quote_evidencewith links to price sources - Connect flow backs up your config, verifies the key without spending credit, and supports “undo”
- First-class support for Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode, Gemini CLI and others via
scripts/connect.mjs - All the catalogue data is available as JSON and plain HTTP endpoints, plus a relay jargon glossary (yes, it explains 官转 and 逆向)
Caveats
- Listed price says nothing about quality or reliability — the README is blunt about this, and so is the tool when asked
- In cloud chat apps, it can only hand you commands to run yourself rather than making the change
- Mixed licensing: Skill files are Apache-2.0, catalogue code is AGPL-3.0-only, and the supplier data itself carries no open-data licence
Verdict
If you burn tokens through relays or hunt free credits across providers, this is a genuinely useful shopping layer — especially if you live in Claude Code or Codex. If you only ever use one official API, you can skip it.
