A sales agent that bills you nothing per token
Harvey runs an autonomous cold-email pipeline on your existing Claude or ChatGPT subscription instead of a metered API key.

What it does Harvey is a local, looping sales agent: it discovers businesses, profiles their websites with plain HTTP requests, scores them against your ideal customer profile, writes personalized email sequences, and works replies toward a meeting. It wakes every 15 minutes, decides deterministically what needs doing (replies > sends > writing > prospecting), acts, and sleeps. The model only gets called for the parts that actually need language — the orchestration is just counting.
The interesting bit The economics. Instead of per-token API billing, Harvey drives Claude Code or Codex under your existing subscription, so an agent that thinks all day doesn’t burn a metered credit pool all day. It also reads the provider’s quota and throttles itself to leave headroom for your own work. The profiling stage is the quiet star: three free HTTP requests per business plus regex over the HTML yields the incumbent agency, ad pixels, stale blogs, and hiring signals that make an email specific.
Key highlights
- 23-signal catalog you explicitly confirm or reject — nothing is collected without opt-in, and each signal shows its cost
- Cohort builder turns signals into live-counted queries (“has an agency AND running Google Ads AND NOT online booking → 23 companies”)
- Discovery estimates spend before it spends; default source (OpenStreetMap) is free, paid options start around $0.37 per 1,000 businesses
- Nothing sends without your approval — the outbox is a decisions desk, not a firehose
- Dashboard at
localhost:5555for signals, cohorts, costed discovery, and mail approval
Caveats
- OSM coverage is thin for trades without storefronts (under 2,000 roofers in the entire US) — Harvey says so rather than hiding it
- Running an agent against a consumer subscription means you’re subject to that plan’s usage limits and terms; Harvey itself tells you to check them
- Codex support is opt-in and macOS/Linux only; Claude is the default path
Verdict Worth a look if you sell to small local businesses and already pay for Claude or ChatGPT — the subscription trick and the signal-confirmation flow are genuinely clever. Skip it if you need enterprise-scale prospecting data or are squeamish about automation touching your subscription plan’s terms.
