What it does

herdr-web-ui is a plugin for herdr, the terminal multiplexer for coding agents. It mirrors every herdr pane — workspaces, tabs, splits — in a browser and on your phone, rendering agent sessions (Claude Code, Codex, and several others) as chat transcripts instead of raw terminal scrollback. The live terminal is one click away, and approvals, questions, and plan menus become cards you tap. It’s a viewer and controller, not a replacement: herdr owns the agents, and both herdr’s TUI and this app attach to the same terminals simultaneously.

The interesting bit

The chat view isn’t a wrapper around an agent API — it reads the agents’ own session stores (Claude Code’s, Codex’s, omp, gjc, pi, Hermes, and more) and reconstructs the transcript, while the real terminal stays attached underneath. That means the pane stays live at your desk, in the browser, and on the phone at once, with nothing stopped or handed over.

Key highlights

  • Chat and live terminal per pane, with queued messages that join the agent’s next turn (or send immediately)
  • Push alerts when an agent needs input or finishes — even with the app closed
  • Phone PWA with a rearrangeable key bar (Esc, Tab, Ctrl, arrows) above the keyboard, plus voice dictation with review-before-send
  • Attach screenshots from your phone; the upload lands in the pane’s folder and the agent reads the image
  • Start new worktrees and agents from the phone’s ⋯ menu; click file paths in terminal or chat to open them
  • Remote PCs over SSH; Windows uses a screen mirror until herdr supports terminal attach there

Caveats

  • Requires herdr 0.9.0+ running on the host — this is glue (well-engineered glue) over herdr, not a standalone product
  • Chat support is per-agent: OpenCode 1.x and unnamed Devin sessions fall back to the live terminal view
  • Remote access leans on Tailscale, an SSH tunnel, or your own proxy; the server binds to localhost by default

Verdict

If you already run agents inside herdr and ever leave your desk, this is the missing piece — genuinely useful remote control with push alerts. If you don’t use herdr, there’s nothing here for you yet.
