A video editor that lets your AI agent do the grunt work
Velorn is an open-source desktop editor that wraps local ComfyUI generation in a real timeline — and exposes 100+ MCP tools so agents can edit alongside you.

What it does
Velorn is an Electron-based video workstation: multi-track timeline editing, captions, effects, proxies, and export, plus a Generate workspace that runs local and cloud ComfyUI workflows. Guided “Create” flows turn a song, a script, or a product pitch into keyframes, shots, and an assembled timeline. The pitch is honest about its place in the stack: it’s the production layer around ComfyUI, not a replacement for it.
The interesting bit
The local MCP server is the headline feature. Claude, Codex, or Cursor can inspect your open project, preview timeline edits (which participate in undo), queue generation jobs, and even install missing custom nodes from a community workflow after your approval. Most write tools default to preview-first, which is the right instinct when an agent is holding the scissors.
Key highlights
- Full editor works with zero ComfyUI setup; only generation needs a local ComfyUI instance (localhost only)
- Custom ComfyUI graphs via
VELORN_*endpoint nodes, API JSON import, or the Velorn Bridge round-trip - Music Video Creator: lyric timing, ASR transcription, per-shot keyframes, and timeline assembly
- Templates tab browses the official ComfyUI catalog (500+ templates) in an embedded ComfyUI tab
- Workflow dependency checker flags missing nodes, models, and credentials before you waste a render
Caveats
- All generation requires a separately installed local ComfyUI — this is glue around it, albeit ambitious glue
- Short Film Creation is explicitly labeled beta with rough edges
- Filesystem changes (imports, exports, generated files) aren’t universally undoable, so agent approval matters
Verdict
Worth a look if you already run ComfyUI and want a real editor plus agent automation instead of juggling graphs and a separate NLE. If you just need to cut a video, a plain editor will do with less ceremony.
