A humanoid robot with nothing up its sleeve
RoboParty's RP1 open-sources the entire stack — CAD, schematics, firmware, training — for a real agentic humanoid, not just a demo video.

What it does RP1 is a full-stack humanoid platform: mechanical CAD, PCB layouts, Gerbers, BOMs and assembly docs on the hardware side; Linux BSP, firmware, URDF/MJCF models and a deployment SDK on the software side; and an Isaac Lab training workspace for locomotion policies on the learning side. It ships in 24, 28, 30 and 42 DoF configurations, plus a dexterous hand (RP Hand) with its own C++/Python/ROS 2 SDK. The overview repo is a hub — the actual code lives in a dozen-plus sub-repositories.
The interesting bit Most “open” humanoid projects open the software and treat the body as a trade secret. RP1 hands over the joint modules (ROMOMO), the wiring, the test SOPs, even the joystick app. The research side is unusually deep too — AMP, BeyondMimic, Parkour, MimicLite, UFO and PBFM demos are all linked, several with accompanying papers.
Key highlights
- Full mechanical and electrical sources: CAD, schematics, Gerbers, BOM, assembly documentation
- Real-time control loop runs at 500 Hz with an E-stop in the architecture
- Deployment SDKs for
imu, motor, inferenceandcamera, callable from C++ and Python - Isaac Lab training workspace covering AMP, BeyondMimic and Parkour workflows
- Bilingual docs (English / 简体中文) and an active community via QQ/WeChat
Caveats
- This repo is an index, not the code — you’ll be hopping between sub-repositories, each with its own release state
- Several research demos (IBFM, PredActor, INTACT-JEPA) are marked “RP1 support coming soon”
- The README doesn’t state pricing, availability of physical hardware, or how complete a self-built robot actually is
Verdict Worth a long look if you research humanoid control or want to study a complete robot stack end to end. If you were hoping to order one and unbox it, the README leaves that question politely unanswered.
