Eleven Claude skills that trade like your heroes — with your hand on the button
A pack of plain-Python Claude skills that clones 13F portfolios, stalks congressional trades, and sizes orders to your budget, but never places a trade without your yes.
What it does
trader-skill is a set of 11 Claude skills, each backed by a small standard-library Python tool, that turn public data into an investing workflow. One reads an investor’s 13F-HR on SEC EDGAR and rebuilds their portfolio as copyable weights, complete with what they bought, trimmed, and sold since last quarter. Others watch news and 8-K filings on your holdings, parse congressional trade disclosures (the Pelosi skill) the minute they post, size positions to your budget, check orders against your risk limits, and track tax lots and wash sales.
The interesting bit
The skills chain through a shared trader/ folder — copycat writes targets, budget turns them into sized orders, risk passes or blocks each one, and broker renders the exact ticket. The design is aggressively consent-first: nothing in the pack can place an order alone, paper trading is the default, and the README explicitly tells you to set your brokerage connector to “Needs approval,” never “Always allow.”
Key highlights
/trader-copycatdiffs a filer’s latest 13F against the prior quarter, so you see moves, not just snapshots/trader-pelosiparses House PTR PDFs into clean rows and alerts once per new filing- All tools are standard-library Python, no dependencies, and rate-limit themselves per SEC’s rules
- Ships with an offline unittest suite running on fixtures cut from real filings
- Works even without Claude Code — paste a single
SKILL.mdinto a chat and it runs as a mode (minus the Python tools)
Caveats
- 13F data is 45 days stale and long-only: no shorts, no cash, no foreign listings — you see what they held, not what they hold
- Price data leans on Yahoo Finance’s unofficial chart endpoint, which the README itself flags as subject to change
- Congress disclosures are public record, not inside information; amounts come as filed ranges
Verdict
Worth a look if you want a transparent, human-in-the-loop research and order-prep pipeline around public filings. If you’re hoping for autonomous trading or real-time signal, this is deliberately not that — and it says so.
