What it does

StableStudio is Stability AI’s official open-source variant of DreamStudio, a web interface for creating and editing generated images. It gives you a browser-based frontend for generative AI workflows, but strips out Stability-specific branding, billing, and account management. You get the UI; the backend is your problem.

The interesting bit

Every direct API call was replaced by a plugin system, so you can reroute the frontend to any backend you want with some TypeScript. The README also candidly admits the maintainers are “not entirely sure where this project is going just yet,” which is either refreshing honesty or a soft warning.
