This repository releases OpenCRISPR systems, including OpenCRISPR-1, a Cas9-like gene editor created entirely through LLMs. The AI-designed protein maintains the architecture of Type II Cas9 nucleases but differs by hundreds of mutations from natural proteins. It functions as a drop-in replacement for standard gene editing workflows with NGG PAM preference and can be adapted for base, prime, or epigenome editing techniques.
